Every day, 70 Canadians will hear the words “you have breast cancer.” 

Two years ago my sister heard those words and she fought it like the warrior she is. Her treatment has been made possible by the research funded by this and other initiatives.  On a selfish note this means that now I have 'skin in the game', having a sibling who has breast cancer. This is my effort to make a difference. So many women I know have been affected both this year and in years past by a breast cancer diagnosis. This walk is for all of them and with the hope that sometime soon it will not be required.

While these Canadians are living longer, healthier lives after a breast cancer diagnosis, there is still so much work to be done. 

By participating in this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure,  I’m helping make a meaningful difference in the lives of Canadians affected by breast cancer. I’m participating in honour of the incredible people in my life.
