I was diagnosed with breast cancer on August 29, 2013...my world stopped. With my husband, my three boys (who were 16, 14 and 10 at the time) and countless family and friends by my side I underwent surgery, chemo and radiation, it was a long year to say the least. 11 years later, I am healthy, active, retired (yay) and completely enjoying my time being a grandmother to 2 beautiful granddaughters, not to mention I've gained daughters in the process! 

Not a day goes by that I am not reminded of what I went through. I am forever grateful for all the love and support from family and friends and all the care from the oncology teams both in Yarmouth and HFX. Most of all though, I'm grateful to be here today! So to show my support for the thousands of Canadians diagnosed with breast cancer every year, I am participating and fundraising for this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure.
