An estimated 27,700 women and 260 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in Canada - and I was one of them in 2021.

In December 2021, I was diagnosed with what turned out to be Triple Negative Breast Cancer.  In January 2022, I began what was eventually 16 months of treatment.  I underwent 8 rounds of chemotherapy between January and May.  By that time, the tumour in my right breast had shrunk significantly.  Unfortunately, by the time I had surgery in July, it had grown again and I had to make a very quick decision (just before going into surgery) to have a mastectomy rather than the planned lumpectomy.  

In the fall, I began 15 rounds of radiation and this was follwed by 8 rounds/6 months of oral chemotherapy.  Now a year and a half out from treatment, I remain NED (no evidence of disease)!
