Cancer is a brutal disease, for those suffering and their families alike. My mother was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in 2013, and after six years, passed away on March 17th, 2019 at 2:56am. In those years, she fought her hardest. She tried to live her fullest. She was the sweetest soul, my favourite person, my mama.

So many cycles of chemotherapy, rounds of radiation, a mastectomy, all the complications that come with treatment along with the pain and discomfort of the disease itself. As a family, it was one of the hardest times of our lives, and one we still haven't been able to recover from. To watch the person you love the most in this world have to suffer so tremendously is something I wish no one ever had to experience. Most of all, I wish she didn't have to experience this awful disease itself. Everyday I wish she was still here. Every day I'm thankful she's no longer suffering. 

Unfortunately she's not the only person in my life impacted by this disease. My aunt, her youngest sister, also passed away in 2016 from breast cancer. My brother's friend passed away during their time at university. Another friend's mom is fortunately in remission.

To show my support for every single one of them, along with the thousands of Canadians diagnosed with breast cancer every year and their families, I am participating and fundraising for this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure. 

With your help, I hope to make a life-changing difference for so many people. Every dollar I raise will fund groundbreaking breast cancer research and support programs and services for those impacted by this disease.
