Burlington/Hamilton/Oakville: Badass Warriors - CIBC Run for the Cure

Badass Warriors

I’m incredibly grateful for my kids, husband, family and friends for all the love and support you’ve given me. I love you all!  #F*ckCancer

I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in June 2021. The battle began with an extensive amount of tests, being at the hospital 3-4 times a week but they moved quickly to have my plan in place. I started chemo in July, followed with a bilateral mastectomy and 6 months of 10 chemo pills a day to get the cancer out of me!

I’ve encountered certain emotions that I didn’t expect post-cancer. Survivor’s guilt, post-traumatic stress, body dysmorphia, along with depression and anxiety, which have taken turns trying to mess with my mind. I promised myself I would shed the victim mentality that I often found myself in. Even though my cancer is gone, it clearly still has a hold on me. I have to find peace with its existence and develop a new mindset and perspective about it. Cancer changed me—it threw me for a loop but also gave me a new lens through how I view life. There is no question about it: I am determined to move forward and live the life that is right for me.

We have come together as a team to support the estimated 27,700 women and 260 men diagnosed with breast cancer every year in Canada.

We are participating and fundraising for this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday, October 1, 2023, because we believe better treatment options and survival outcomes are possible. And we want to support all Canadians impacted by breast cancer, including our family and friends.

With your help, we can reach our fundraising goal and fund groundbreaking breast cancer research and support programs and services for those impacted by this disease. Together, we can create a future without breast cancer.

Please donate today. Help us give Canadians impacted by breast cancer a reason to have hope.

Thank you! We appreciate your generous support.
