Every day, 70 Canadians will hear the words “you have breast cancer.”

On July 25, 2019, I was one of those Canadians. Cancer is a game changer. It changes you physically, mentally and emotionally. It changes the way you see things and people and relationships. It literally leaves an imprint on your brain. 3 surgeries, 8 rounds of chemo, loss of my hair, eyelashes and eyebrows, 25 treatments of radiation, and just to keep things interesting, a global pandemic! But guess what, we beat it. We being the village I had to support me the past  4 years. My family, friends, colleagues, friends of friends and sometimes even strangers. While I plan to live a long, healthy life after my breast cancer diagnosis, there is still so much work to be done.

By participating in this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure, I’m joining a collective that is a force-for-life in the face of breast cancer. I’m walking (hopefully running) in honour of the incredible people in my life, in my village, and I need your help!
