Breast cancer has hit FAR too close to home for me over the past couple years. First, my mom was diagnosed on June 10, 2023 and underwent surgery on June 22, 2023. Then, after proactively going for my first mammogram shortly after my 40th birthday, I was diagnosed on April 10, 2024 and underwent surgery on May 29, 2024. We are both doing well as of right now. Mom has made a full recovery and I am working my way back towards 100%.

I am thankful that this screening was made available to me. The cancer was caught early and had not spread. I am hopeful this means I will still have the opportunity to live a long and healthy life, but I recognize there are no guarantees.

I am running for myself, my mom, and everyone else in my circle who has been affected by this horrible disease. Earlier this year, I didn’t know if I would be physically able to run, but I am, so let’s go!
