Durham Region: Ms. Patricia Goode-Zahorec

Every day, 70 Canadians will hear the words “you have breast cancer.” While these Canadians are living longer, healthier lives after a breast cancer diagnosis, but there is still so much work to be done.
By participating in this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure, I’m joining a collective that is a force-for-life in the face of breast cancer. I’m running in honour of the incredible people in my life, and I need your help!

I am very fortunate to be surrounded by a wonderful group of Team Members, some who are also survivors, who work tirelessly each year to help this cause. THIS IS THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY YEAR FOR OUR TEAM TO TAKE PART IN THE RUN FOR THE CURE!

Life has changed for us all in the last few years and everything seems to be moving faster. There are many disturbing events reported in the world daily, prices for everything are going up, up, up and we all are struggling to manage these new norms.

On the positive side, new cures are being discovered everyday and less invasive treatments are a wonderful thing for those going through healing.

So if you can find it in your heart to support the progressive work the the Canadian Cancer Society is doing day to day, I will pledge that I will keep our Team alive and keep going to find a cure in my lifetime.

We need your help to continue the fight to find a cure.

We have worked hard and to date have raised WELL OVER ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS. That's a lot of loonies and toonies!

WE COULD NOT HAVE BE AS SUCCESSFUL AS WE HAVE BEEN, WITHOUT THE SUPPORT OF MANY WONDERFUL PEOPLE WHO CONTRIBUTED TO HELP US. WE FEEL SO BLESSED.

Last year,We also won the Women's Team Challenge Award again .

A lot of hard work, but certainly worth the payoff for future lives.

Since being diagnosed in 2004 and after 4 operations, chemo & radiation, I am very blessed to still be here and enjoy life & my wonderful grandsons & family.

Together, we can change the future of breast cancer.
