I have been participating in the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure (in the US) or CIBC Run for the Cure (in Canada) for nearly 20 years. Initially inspired by my grad school friends conducting research in the field, my purpose for participating evolved over the years as more and more friends and family were directly impacted by the disease.

This year, I am dedicating my participation to women who have fought the disease and won...only to be devasted by its return in some form years later.  I will think of the mothers, daughters, sisters, cousins, nieces, and friends who are fighting cancer with the strength of those we've lost looking over them.

An estimated 27,700 women and 260 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in Canada.

To show my support for all Canadians impacted by breast cancer, I am participating and fundraising for this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday, October 6,2024

P.S. Did you know? Fundraising $300 can fund help provide healthy home-cooked meals for guests at a Canadian Cancer Society lodge during their stay. Lodge guests receive wholesome foods like fresh fruits and vegetables, and meals customized to their dietary needs including those arising from cancer treatment, like liquid and soft food diets.
