Cancer is a relentless disease that impacts not just the individual diagnosed but also their family and friends. I lost my father to thyroid cancer in 2013, and it remains the most devastating experience of my life. Although I have personal connection to thyroid cancer, I believe that every type of cancer deserves attention and support. Which is why I'd like to take this opportunity to shine the light on breast cancer. About 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. My grandmother is fortunately a breast cancer survivor however, many others, such as my great grandmother and aunt Judy, who sadly passed away in 2019, are not so lucky. To show my support for the thousands of Canadians diagnosed with breast cancer every year, I am participating and fundraising for this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure.
