Hey guys! As most of you know my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer a bit over a year ago. Hearing the word cancer come back into our family is a feeling that is indescribable, an emotional roller coaster to say the least. At first I was in complete shock, but then once reality started to hit in, every single unpleasant emotion that one can experience starts to all surface at once; sad, frustrated, disappointed, confused, scared.. list could go on. Cancer is a scary disease.. Cancer is a disease that always lives in the grey, the unknown is always there. Constant questions are left unanswered, are the treatments going to work? Which treatment is the right one? Is everything going to turn out? What will this year bring, what will this day even bring? Will cancer ever go away? The reality is Cancer is attached to a very special person in my life. The person that means the world to me, my mother. She always runs towards the fight and never gives up. She consistently keeps an optimistic attitude throughout this all, and does not let cancer run over her life. That is strength. Though these are unpleasant circumstances to be in, cancer is part of the story that we are in not the only story that we are in. Life isn’t meant to be perfect, it’s meant to be lived. On October 6th, will be the CIBC run for the cure. This is a run that raises money for breast cancer all over Canada. This run is very important to our family since the money raised will hopefully advance further treatments for breast cancer. This year I am forming a team, in support of my mom and other patients impacted by breast cancer. We would love for anyone to join our team or make a donation to our team, using the link below. Any little bit is very appreciated! If there is one thing i’ve learnt so far throughout these past months is to live each day in the present moment. Often times it is easy to live life day to day, looking ahead to what’s coming next. Living in the present makes everyday even more precious. It makes you become more aware and appreciative to what you have right in front of you.
