I was diagnosed with breast cancer, once again, on Nov. 26, 2021 ... almost 14 years after my mum and I were originally diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007.

It seemed surreal to receive this news and at the same time, it was a blessing. I had an early diagnosis and an incredible care team from the London Regional Cancer Program (LRCP).

Due to the breast cancer being in the same breast as my original cancer, it would mean my surgery would be aggressive. On March 3, 2022 I had an 8.5 hour surgery followed by a five day stay in the hospital and a follow-up surgery Oct. 26, 2022.

My surgeons believe that the cancer has been fully removed. I am so thankful.

This time I did not require chemotherapy or radiation (you can't have radiation twice in the same location which I was previously unaware of). I continue to go to physio, osteo and massage to re-establish my fitness level and range of motion. I am thankful for continued monitoring and care through LRCP. 

2.5 years after surgery and my healing continues to go well - I am healthy and truly blessed.

I look forward to once again being a part of the Run for the Cure where I have the opportunity to:

• honour those who have lost their lives to cancer - including my Nana and mother-in-law
• support those who are currently battling cancer
• and to celebrate with those who are survivors - including my mum & myself
