On October 6th I will be running for my mom Rose who passed away suddenly about 2 years ago due to a very aggressive form of lung cancer. My mom’s cancer was beyond forgiving, and we were faced with a lot of uncertainty. On August 8th, 2022, my mom was diagnosed with cancer. We had many questions that could not be answered. We were told different things over the week and ultimately on August 24th we were told it was stage 4 lung cancer and it was in 90% of her body and that all we could do was say our goodbyes and make her as comfortable as possible. My mom suffered and I wish I could say she made a miracle recovery, but she didn’t, and she was in a lot of pain all the time, but she tried her very best to stay happy and smile.

On August 25th, 2022, my mom lost her fight, but I will continue to fight for her and others who have been affected by cancer. On October 6th I will be completing a 5km run to help create funds to help support cancer research and to help families who face unavoidable expenses. living without my mom has been one of the hardest things I have ever had to-do and even though 2 years have gone by I have not yet accepted it. I try to remind myself that my mom is at peace and is no longer suffering from her pain and that she had a fulfilling life and knew how much she meant to us. Grief has changed me in a million different ways and I am no longer the same version of myself, I will feel this painful void the rest of my life and although it has gotten easier to deal with some days are still hard and the waves of sadness still hit me when I think of her. The day she was taken is still a blur in my memory and I can’t bring myself to go back to that moment as all I do is torment myself with it. Did I tell you I loved you enough, did you know you were going to die, what was your last memory?  did you feel me holding your hand, so many what ifs and things I could have done differently. I have to Remind myself to not dwell on it and to remind myself she had me by her side till the end and to remember our last conversation, I told her so many times how proud I was of her  and how much I loved her but the thing with grief is that we don’t remember the good moments as much as we should instead we remember the bad moments and make it seem like that’s all there was but that’s not the case. I loved her for not as long as I would of liked but I got to love her, I got to love her smile I got to love her laugh and I got to feel her love and kindness and I will always be thankful for the time we did have. I am lucky to of had 25 beautiful years with my mom by my side guiding me and pushing me to be a better version of myself  and memories that I will forever Cherish.

My mom was a fighter and a courageous woman and just because she lost her fight doesn’t mean I did, and I will continue to fight and help cancer research for her. I am asking for donations to help cancer research so that people can get answers sooner and if you can’t donate that’s okay all I ask is that you hug your loved ones tightly and go for a walk together
