Last Fall I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 39. In January 2024 I underwent a double mastectomy. While I thought the physical part of treatment was the hardest part I had to overcome, I have since realized that the road ahead is also going to be hard at times. My treatment will end 10 years from now and in the meantime, I must be the healthiest I can be :)

I absolutely hate running. I have never been a runner and it was never something that came easily to me. When I saw that the Run for The Cure was in October, I felt that it was something I needed to sign up for, for myself. If I signed up.... it would mean I HAVE to learn how to run. It would mean I would HAVE to put the effort in which would help me become more active. While I work through a training program to learn how to run, I mostly feel like I need an AED and question every life choice that led me to this moment LOLLLLL but I'm doing it!

To make a commitment to myself that I am doing everything I can to help reduce my risk of recurrence and to show my support for the thousands of Canadians diagnosed with breast cancer every year, I am participating and fundraising for this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure.

With your help, I can reach my fundraising goal and make a life-changing difference for so many people. Every dollar I raise will fund groundbreaking breast cancer research and support programs and services for those impacted by this disease.
