This time last year, I was gearing up for my first chemotherapy session. I was terrified. Diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in August 2023, I learned that I had a triathlon of treatment in the 6-8 months ahead of me - surgery, chemotherapy, radiation - and a marathon of hormone treatment to follow that, for at least 5 to 10 years.

I was (and still am) angry about my diagnosis. I had a lot of questions. Why me? Why now? Why did I get cancer? Could we have caught it earlier? Why do some women still die from breast cancer and others survive?

This October, to show my support for the thousands of women diagnosed with breast cancer every year, I am participating and fundraising for the Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure.

With your help, I can reach (and exceed?) my fundraising goal and make a life-changing difference for so many people.

Knowledge is power, and research is crucial to advancing that knowledge.

Every dollar I raise will fund groundbreaking breast cancer research and support programs and services for those impacted by this disease.
