Please support me in my efforts to raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society/Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. London’s Run for the Cure will take place Sunday morning, October 6, 2024. This year’s walk will be at Victoria Park in downtown London. Let me know if you want to walk with us.

Please try to get donations in by September 30, but of course they are welcome any time. Perhaps RIGHT NOW, while it is on your mind, is the best time.

This will be my sixteenth year participating in Run for the Cure. My survival from breast cancer and melanoma is a precious gift, and this walk is one of the ways I celebrate LIFE. I am eternally grateful for the prayers and good wishes of my family and dear friends and the skill and support of my medical team at the London Regional Cancer Program. I am also very grateful for the support we have received from family and friends and our medical team when my dear husband, Wally, had prostate cancer surgery.

With 1 in 8 Canadian women expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, your support is more important than ever. Together we can make significant progress in breast cancer support, prevention, detection, diagnosis, treatment, and care.

Donations by credit card are easiest. They are processed quickly on the website, and receipts can be issued immediately. Just click the “DONATE” button. If you give me cash or cheque donations, they are also very welcome, but your receipt will come in the mail, early in the new year. Please make cheques payable to “Canadian Cancer Society”.

The Canadian Cancer Society invests the funds raised by Run for the Cure into breast cancer research, support services, health education, and advocacy programs. Over the past 20 years, CCS and the former CBCF have invested over $360 million in breast cancer research, funding more than 1,400 scientific and community grants, including right here in London, Ontario. With the help of our donors, we hope to reduce the number of people diagnosed with breast cancer, reduce mortality for those who develop the disease, and improve the quality of life for those affected.

For the sake of all our daughters, granddaughters, mothers, sisters, aunts, nieces, and friends, let’s work together with the CCS toward a future without breast cancer. Please remember that men can have breast cancer, and the work of the CCS benefits them, too.

I have had some questions regarding whether donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in support of my participation in Run for the Cure 2024 are tax deductible in the U.S. and Canada. The answer is YES in both countries.
