Hi friends and family!

An estimated 27,700 women and 260 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in Canada. 

As many of you know, in March 2019, our dear friend Laura Smith was one of those women. Three weeks after hearing those words, she had surgery for invasive lobular carcinoma and completed radiation treatments July 2019. Shortly after the 6 weeks of recovering from the radiation burns, a new and growing lump in the same breast caused concern. Although not cancer related, it necessitated an additional second lumpectomy in March 2020 during the pandemic, post-surgical complications followed including infection, impaired healing, pain, medication and worry. With Laura's incredible infectious positivity, faith in God, team of medical professionals, and deep love from her family and friends, she is doing well today!! She looks forward to beginning the journey of reconstruction in a couple months.

To show our support for all Canadians impacted by breast cancer, all four of us Lukacs' are participating and fundraising for this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday, October 6, 2024.

With your help, we can reach our fundraising goal and make a life-changing difference for so many people. Every dollar we raise will fund groundbreaking breast cancer research and support programs and services for those impacted by this disease.
