My story 


I was diagnosed with Invasive Lobular Carcinoma in my left breast at the end of April of this year.  I went for a routine mammogram and was called back for a second one. They did an Ultrasound and Biopsy the same day. It all happened so fast. One day I was living life without a care in the world and the next, the ground had opened up beneath me. Waiting for the biopsy result was the longest week of my life. After the initial diagnosis, I was referred to a Surgeon who performed a lumpectomy in June. I was then referred to the Grand River Regional Cancer Center at Grand River Hospital in Kitchener. The last couple  
Of months have been a whirlwind of Oncologist appointments, CT scans, testing and bloodwork.  I was extremely fortunate as they caught it very early so I was able to avoid Chemotherapy ( don’t skip those mammograms ladies). My treatment consisted of 20 radiation sessions and an Estrogen blocking medication that I will take for the next 5 years. I’m currently on my last week of radiation and can’t wait for this part of my journey to be over. I am so thankful to the medical team that got me through this and especially my husband and family who have been my rock through it all.
