Year 26.

The diagnosis came in August 1996 on beautiful summer day. The next 1.5 years would be filled with fear sadness and also joy because my mom got better, we all thought she was going to be okay, but it was a short lived time of joy. She would grace the disease with humility, never showing her own fear or pain. 

My now adult boys would have been so proud to have been a given a chance to have known their (“Nani Ji”-maternal grandmother) my lioness warrior. I’m trying to keep her fire alive daily, not a day goes by without her popping into my thoughts. I didn’t pay attention to breast cancer before she got sick, I have spent over 2 decades educating and also raising $ by running yearly in her memory. I hope you can with kindness open your hearts and help me reach my goal as I participate in my 26th year.
