So – here are the facts. One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime, and men get it too. Since 1992, $462 million dollars have been raised to fund breast cancer research, resulting in a DECREASE in mortality by 49% since the 1980s. That decrease is a fantastic number, but the 1 in 8 means that there is still more to do.

As I write this I am just days away from being 10 years cancer free. I am healthy and strong and immensely grateful. I benefited from that research as I went through my treatment for breast cancer, and I want others to as well. The picture you see is of a stained-glass mobile that my Uncle John made for me when I finished my radiation treatments in December of 2013. It hangs in my front window, and it reminds me daily of how blessed I am, and also that there are others still dealing with this disease.
