Join me and help change the future of breast cancer!

It was three simple words ... but those three words turned our world upside down. "I have cancer." That was the text I received from my wife back in February. She was at a medical appointment that we had reassured ourselves would be routine with nothing to fret about. We were wrong. It was only when we met with the oncologist in Sudbury that we truly began to realize how much our family dynamic was about to change. 18 weeks of chemo... surgery... a 2nd surgery...4 weeks of radiation... 9 more months of chemo to come... multiple doctor visits and more medical jargon than we ever thought we'd have to know. In the midst of this journey, we've also been shown loads of love from our community. From messages of support, to meals being dropped off, offers to chauffeur the kids to their next activity etc. Now I want to do something that will help in ensuring that future families won't have to face this awful disease. Beginning October 1st, I am going to walk from the Northeast Cancer Centre in Sudbury all the way to the North Bay CIBC. A journey of about 129 km. I expect it will take me about 4 days to complete. Throughout the trek I'll be thinking of all those who have battled breast cancer, and most of all I'll be reflecting on my wife and the amazing fighter that she has proven to be this last year.
