In 2021, I became one of an estimated 27,700 women and 260 men who are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in Canada. Since then, I have had chemo, surgery, more surgery, more chemo, radiation, targeted therapy to prevent recurrence, some complications and many, many hours of hospital drives and visits (Ryan and I said they counted as dates!). I also had the chance to participate in a surgical clinic trial that has been a complete success and is now offered to other breast cancer patients at the Ottawa Hospital. 

My journey isn’t over, with more surgery coming up and years of follow up. Throughout, my family, friends and loved ones have provided us with a solid foundation of help and love - and I am forever grateful.

To show my support for all Canadians impacted by breast cancer, I am participating and fundraising for this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday, October 2, 2022.  

Every dollar raised will fund groundbreaking breast cancer research and support programs and services for those impacted by this disease.
