.....My Letter to Cancer You made me cry, you made me ache, angry, depressed, defeated and without hope. Before you came and infected me physically and mentally, I enjoyed the life I had with my family and friends and the million smiles and laughs that came with it all. Through four months of chemotherapy treatments, countless scans. MRIs, biopsies and for good measure a trip to McGill Hospital, some two hours away for some twenty or so experimental radiation treatments, you robbed me of my femininity. From my hair, my breast, my day-to-day life, both personally and professionally I am scarred, scared and in constant pain. That is what you did to me but you could not kill my spirit, That CANCER is something you will never be able to take. I found myself with new friends and I got that much closer to many friends I hadn't seen or spoken to in ages. I learned crying is not all that bad and I learned that receiving hugs are just as precious as giving them. CANCER can rob you of a lot of things but family is family and friends are friends and CANCER although crippling and disabling as it is also reignites a bond as strong as life and love itself. May you forever be gone from my system and may you forever take note that through the grace of God, modern technology, the willingness to fight and love and support of so many that you will be beaten. Let's never cross paths again CANCER for my left cross and my right uppercut will knock you to the ground.
