My story starts on May 6th when I found a lump in my right breast. I was brought in for assessment the following day, then sent for a mammogram and very shortly after that, a biopsy. On July 22nd I was diagnosed with stage 2, her2+, IDC breast cancer. My mental health took a nose dive as I waited for the details of my diagnosis and my treatment plan. On August 31st I started TCH chemotherapy and had a single mastectomy and reconstruction in early February. My pathology report came back with a complete response to chemo. My last Herceptin infusion was in August of 2022 and I am proud to say I remain cancer free! 

In Canada, it is estimated that 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. 

An estimated 27,700 women and 260 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in Canada.  

To show my support for all Canadians impacted by breast cancer, I am participating and fundraising for this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday, October 6, 2024.
