You know the story:

Metastatic breast cancer diagnosis at 37. (No gene, no prior health problems). My onco couldn't tell me how long I had; there were too many unknown variables. But TAKE THAT cancer, I'm still going strong after 4.5 years with this incurable disease.

Meanwhile, death announcements are not uncommon in my MBC support groups.

I now live split between acceptance and hope. The longer I'm on my first line of treatment, the better, but also, every treatment option has an expiry date, and I don't know when mine will be.

We are hoping research cracks open a new miracle drug before I run out of options.

I'll be running in this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure in just a couple weeks, whose funds go toward groundbreaking breast cancer research, support programs and services.
