Ottawa-Gatineau: Just keep running (or walking) - CIBC Run for the Cure

Ottawa-Gatineau

Just keep running (or walking)

We have come together as a team to support the estimated 27,700 women and 260 men diagnosed with breast cancer every year in Canada.

We are participating and fundraising for this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday, October 6, 2024, because we believe better treatment options and survival outcomes are possible.

My cancer was found on my very first mammogram after the age of 50 - I have no risk factors for breast cancer other than being a woman and getting older. I am fortunate to live in Ottawa, Canada where there is state of the art technology in treating breast cancer and I had an amazing medical team supporting me.

Over the past two years - with the support of my amazing friends and family and work colleagues - we raised an incredible $15000 and I am still so overwhelmed by everyone's support. I had the BEST day cheering everyone across the finish line.

While women and men are living longer, healthier lives after a breast cancer diagnosis, there is still so much work to be done. By participating in this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure, together, we can help change the future of breast cancer. I am running in honour of survivors, those going through treatment right now; and I am running for me and my family; and I am running for those who are going to be diagnosed.

Every dollar makes a difference. Your donation will fund the best breast cancer research in Canada and a vitally important support system that helps people with breast cancer and their families nationwide. Did you know that just $100 could fund two hours of life-saving research in a world class laboratory? Your contribution could lead to the next breakthrough!

Together, we can show Canadians facing breast cancer that we will never stop running (or walking).
