At the age of 46, my mother was diagnosed with hormonal positive breast cancer. She would go through treatments and into remission for 14 years before her cancer returned. By the time it was caught the 2nd time, it had already started to spread. Advances in treatments in those 14 years are what helped her remain with us for another 2 years before she passed away in 2016. 

I've been walking/running the CIBC Run for the Cure since 2007, only missing a couple of events due to illness and the birth of my son. This event is dear to my heart after watching my mother go through her cancer treatments, and walking with her in a couple of these events.

Now two of my paternal aunts have breast cancer. One has already beat it twice, and the other aunt just finished her treatments.
