When I was diagnosed, I thought how? At 35, with a 4 year old son and twin 1 year old daughters, I never expected to get that news. I was being screened, as I am considered high risk. Both my mother and grandmother were diagnosed in their fifties and sixties. I thought it was a possibility that I could be diagnosed with breast cancer, but not at 35, my kids still need me. I decided to stay positive and make my husband and children my strength. They became my rock and continued to help me through that tough time. I am not only fighting for me; I am also fighting for them. I will have the strength to fight every step of the way. In July 2020 I had my surgery and in November of the same year I had a double mastectomy. This is not something I want my kids to experience when they grow up. Please support me as I fight to find a cure so that my son and daughters will never have to experience what I am going through.

    Every day, 70 Canadians will hear the words “you have breast cancer.” While these Canadians are living longer, healthier lives after a breast cancer diagnosis, there is still so much work to be done.
