Breast cancer is the most common cancer in Canadian women - 1 in 8 women are expected to develop breast cancer during her lifetime. At present, with faster diagnostic mechanisms, more effective drugs and better treatment plans, the survival rate has gone up. However, there is still so much work to be done so that these women can live longer, healthier lives.

People always said if you have cancer, you may be at risk for more serious outcomes of COVID-19. During the pandemic of COVID-19, all the patients could only go to hospital by themselves and no family or friends could accompany with you. Without supports from your family, you had to face everything by yourself including good news or bad news. It is a real roller coaster ride at the front seat. Now that we all learn to live with the COVID as it never stops, just like we have to learn to live with breast cancer as well, we are not fear anymore as we understand that there are lots of cancer research out there and one day the scientists will find the right treatment to cure all the cancer patients.

Do you know every day 75 Canadians will hear the words "you have breast cancer?” While these Canadians are living longer, healthier after a breast cancer diagnosis, there is still so much work to be done. For that, we need your support. We strongly believe that breast cancer research could contribute to a better future benefiting all women and men who will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their life time.

This is my 3rd year of participating the CIBC Run for the Cure fundraising event. Last year, the whole event raised over $9M and the donations was used to fund the best breast cancer research in Canada and a vitally important support system that helps people with breast cancer and their families nationwide. I would like to take this opportunity to thank for the tremendous supports from my family, friends and my  team, without your encouragement and thoughtful caring, I won’t be able to become a better me. A thankful heart to all of you! 

By participating in this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure, I’m joining a collective force, that is a force-for-life ,in the face of breast cancer.
