On Sunday, October 6, 2024, I will be participating in a run with my family and friends to support breast cancer research. Last year, I ran in honor of my mother-in-law and friends, but this year, I am running for myself.  Earlier this year, I was diagnosed with hormone receptor-positive breast cancer, a common form of the disease. After numerous appointments, tests, surgery, and radiation, I am currently in the clear. Thankfully, the treatment has been fairly standard, and I am experiencing minimal side effects. My diagnosis was a complete surprise, as I have no family history and was not considered at risk. This journey has taught me that breast cancer can affect anyone, but it also emphasizes the growing number of survivors. Fundraising events like this play a crucial role in continuously increasing the survival rate. I am honored to be a part of this effort to contribute to the ongoing progress in breast cancer research.
