MY STORY:

For those who know me, know that I’m a private person & I don’t often share my personal information. On International Women’s Day, 2023 I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. According to the information out there, this was not supposed to happen to me. I’m young (unless you ask my kids!), I exercise, eat healthy, don’t drink, smoke or do drugs. But, the reality is that 1 in 8 women in your life will be diagnosed. Put that into perspective & think about the women in your family, your daughter, mother, sister, friend, neighbour or coworker. 

It can happen to anyone & it happened to me.

But here’s the good news in a shitty story. Breast Cancer is not a diagnosis of death. Is it a test of physical & mental strength & is it stressful and worrisome? Absolutely! But, if detected early, the survival rate is high.

To show my support for the thousands of Canadians diagnosed with breast cancer every year, I am participating and fundraising for this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure.
