This year marks 10 years since my family received earth-shattering news: my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. The past decade has been a rollercoaster of emotions and challenges, from chemotherapy side effects and surgeries to remission and relapses. When you or a loved one is living with cancer, peace always feels just out of reach. Recently, hearing about my aunt in Germany being diagnosed with cancer took me right back to those early days—filled with worry, dread, and the unease of the unknown.

I’m incredibly grateful for the excellent care my mom receives, with a doctor who is always there for us, day or night. Yet, It is not lost on me that in our world, millions don’t have access to such treatments. Many are left with hospitals in rubble without the care they desperately need because of failures at higher levels.
