September 25th of 2023, the day I learned the true meaning of fear. It is the day our world crumbled, a day full of tears and what if’s. It is the day my sister in-law was diagnosed with stage 3, aggressive, Breast Cancer.

Alina, a mother to my niece and two nephews and the most incredible wife to my brother. The most fearless, resilient, intelligent, hardworking and selfless individual that ever came into our lives, had to start fighting for hers. 

Alina isn’t just a sister in-law to me, she is my friend, my role model and the best addition I could ever imagine to our family.

It was certainly the most stressful and scariest six months of my life. The fear of the unknown shook up our worlds. The journey was difficult and emotional but it brought us all closer than ever. 

While juggling her career, a masters degree, a baby, a toddler and a 10 year old, she fought like a warrior, without a complaint.  

Alina has finished her chemo treatment and is thankfully on the right path of this fight!

We are fortunate and grateful that we get to participate in this run with Alina by our side. Our team’s purpose is to do everything in our power to support those that are fighting this terrible battle. We hope that our contribution can help raise funds to put an end to this horrific disease. 

I am also participating in this run to commemorate my best friend’s Mother who sadly, did not win her battle with Breast Cancer. Minda Bowman, an incredible mother that always treated me as her own. Minda welcomed everyone with open arms, she was the life of every party and full of wisdom. She was vibrant, loving and fearless. She is dearly missed.
