Last July I was diagnosed with stage 4 estrogen positive breast cancer. The tumor was in my right breast and has spread to lymph nodes in my right armpit, lymph nodes along my collar bone on my right side as well as on the bone where my first right rib met my sternum. I was told I wouldn't be treated to cure but treated to manage the spread. Coincidentally the same day my oncologist told me that he got a new recommendation from the oncology board for patients like myself. Young, stage 4, where it had only spread to one area of the body. And the new recommendation was to treat aggressively to cure. So that's what we did. From September to the end of December I went for chemo, 8 rounds, 1 every other week. In February of this year I went in for my lumpectomy and from march to April I had radiation. 20 rounds over 4 weeks. I am told, right now, they consider me to be in clinical remission. I go back in October for a mammogram and in November for my 6 month scans. I have been so impressed with the treatment and the teams at Juravinsk and hope by doing this run I am able to give back to other women who are going through treatment.
