In April 2021, the universe turned my life upside down. I was shockingly diagnosed with breast cancer and I was terrified. It made no sense to me. I was a healthy person with no family history of the disease. "You are probably thinking why me," a surgeon said to me. "But the better question is why not me..." she continued. Cancer is that random. Sometimes there is no explanation except for some really bad luck.

And so with lots of tears in my eyes and an incredible family and community behind me, I began, endured, and finished various debilitating treatments to save my wonderful life. The poisonous medicines made me unrecognizable to myself, starting from the top of my head to the bottom of my toes. The more I deteriorated physically, the more lost I felt. But my amazing family and friends never let me get too lost. Their deep love and care helped me stay afloat. I am grateful beyond words.

Thanks to medical research and brilliant doctors, I am okay now and have been cancer-free for three years.

On October 6th, I am participating in the Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure.
