In 1985, I lost my father, Ronald James Mayfield at only 54, to cancer. He was my best friend, a pillar of strength, and someone who always put on a brave face for his family despite the immense pain he endured. His suffering left a profound impact on all of us, showing how deeply cancer can affect not just the patient but everyone around them.

Years later, I faced another heartbreaking loss when my sister passed away at the age of 48 due to bone cancer. The grief and helplessness we felt during these times were overwhelming, reminding us once again of the relentless nature of this disease.

However, amidst the sorrow, there are stories of hope and resilience. Jocelyn is one such story, bravely battling cancer with the support of groundbreaking research and the dedicated team at Princess Margaret. Her journey is a testament to the progress we are making in the fight against cancer.
