Every day, 70 Canadians will hear the words “you have breast cancer.” Eleven years ago it was me. 

After 8 gruelling months of chemo, radiation and surgery I was given a clear bill of health and 11 years later, I am now living cancer free. My treatment and recovery was made possible by the kind of research that the Canadian Cancer Society supports and I was helped along the way by the support services that the Canadian Cancer Society runs, so I know how valuable this work is. Like me, many Canadians are living longer, healthier lives after a breast cancer diagnosis, but there is still so much work to be done. 

By participating in this year’s virtual Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure,  I’m joining a collective that is a force-for-life in the face of breast cancer. On October 6, I’ll be walking 5 km with my friends and colleagues in honour of my mum, my aunt and every person impacted by breast cancer, and I need your help!
