This year's CIBC Run for the Cure will be different.  While I will miss the full day Saturday set up and the early 4:30 am alarm on Sunday morning - one thing for sure is that my fight to end breast cancer is not done.  I will be Running my Way! 

My grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer 26 years ago and it wasn’t until she reached the end of her journey that my family found out about her diagnosis. She was diagnosed at a time when having this disease was perceived as a downfall. I am reassured by the fact that together, we’ve changed the face of breast cancer from a disease that people didn’t talk about, to a movement that brings together friends, families and loved ones to support life-saving research. I know that I can’t bring my grandmother back, but I can help women like her get the treatment and support they need by being a Changemaker and raising valuable funds for the Canadian Cancer Society.

You can be a Changemaker too by supporting my fundraising efforts. While I’ve have lost a number of friends and colleagues to breast cancer in previous years, I know we are making a difference. In fact, we know more women are surviving as breast cancer mortality rates have decreased by 44 percent since the late 1980s due to earlier detection, advances in screening, and improved treatment options.
