At the age of 33 I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Thankfully, it was detected early enough that it was treatable - but not early enough where I had gone through extensive treatment.
The advice I can offer to you is to follow your intuition and be your own advocate. If you believe and notice something isn’t right act upon it immediately because no one will do it for you. The “immediate” part could save your life. I know there are thoughts of “I’m too young” or “it won’t happen to me” but unfortunately cancer does not discriminate and it can happen to anyone.
This last year was the hardest battle I have ever fought. But I’m blessed to say I WON and will continue to win even with a long road ahead.
I wholeheartedly believe without the awareness, fundraisers, donations, etc I would not have been so determined in fighting this disease & continuing my beautiful life.
As well as, I was blessed with the most amazing doctors and staff that fought for me and with me. Of course the help of my supportive family and friends that constantly sent us food, flowers, well wishes, prayers, and so much more. I can’t honestly fully explain how important the people in my life truly are and for that, I’m forever grateful.
So I say, let’s keep running in memory of the beautiful angels, for the warriors that are still fighting, and for all of the courageous survivors. Let us always hear those gongs and bells loudly!
My hope one day is this disease is 100% curable and one less thing we need worry about. If I can reach or help one person, it would be the most humbling experience.
