To show my support for the thousands of Canadians diagnosed with breast cancer every year, I am participating and fundraising for this year's Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure.

I am walking for my amazing wife, also mother to our three kids. In 2022, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Never expecting this terrible news, it felt like my entire world was crashing as I was so worried about my wife and any impact on our kids. It's something that you never expect to happen in your family and it’s a scary time not knowing the outcome. She had major surgery followed by radiation and then started the battle of all the aftermath that comes with it. Her incredible positive attitude and desire to get better allowed her to recover and dance at our daughter's wedding that same year.  

Most of us think once you are lucky enough to become cancer free, life will be the same. But this is far from the truth, as she needed a second surgery and now lives with the daily effects of post cancer medications, lymphedema, joint pain and fatigue.

So much more support is needed for women as they go through the process to become cancer free, but they still live with daily struggles and lifestyle modifications. With your help, I hope to achieve my fundraising goal to make positive life changing differences for the one in eight women who will be diagnosed with breast cancer every year.
