An estimated 27,700 women and 260 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in Canada.

To show my support for all Canadians impacted by breast cancer, I am participating and fundraising for this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday, October 1, 2023.

Why is Run for the Cure and giving back a priority for me this year?

 First, Covid 19 has brought a sense of gratitude to many, including myself, and I feel compelled to give back now more than ever. Breast Cancer continues to challenge far too many women, of all ages. The impact on women and their families didn’t stop through Covid19. Treatment of cancer was even more challenging because of COVID.  Money raised from Run for the Cure will go towards breast cancer research and will provide support for women diagnosed with Breast Cancer (and their families). This is particularly important during what can be a very difficult and isolating time. 

In addition, I am a part of a large group of women in Private Wealth Management at CIBC who have come together to give back and make a difference, on a larger scale. We formed a team called the Wonder Women of Wealth to collectively raise $1 Million for Run for the Cure which will be the largest contribution ever made from a single team in the CIBC Run for the Cure. We have also made a commitment to and have been active in encouraging, supporting and mentoring young women thinking of entering into the Investment Advisory business.  I know it is a most rewarding career. I am working to encourage it as a career path for others. I would love to set a great example and show them what’s possible when it comes to giving back, in addition to supporting their career advancement.
