I found the lump in May 2023. I knew right away it was cancer. After trying to find appointments in the public system, I was told that I would have to wait 4 to 6 months, even though I found a lump. Once I got into the private system, total time from lump to diagnosis: four days. I had a partial mastectomy Then I began chemotherapy received radiation therapy, and now I’m on hormone blocking therapy and injections for the next 5 to 10 years. Cancer isn’t just the lump and isn’t just the treatment. It’s also all the after and how it continues to affect my life. I walk to show other fighters thrivers survivors that there is life after diagnosis and even though I still live with the cloud of breast cancer, I do feel the sun on my face again.
