Did you know that 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime?

It's a staggering number, and quite honestly, it's terrifying. Fifteen months ago, one of my best friends received news that would change her life forever: she was diagnosed with Grade 3 Triple Positive Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. A healthy, vibrant gal with three young children, she suddenly found herself facing the unimaginable—16 rounds of chemo, a double mastectomy, immunotherapy, radiation and hormone therapy.

Watching her go through this has been heartbreaking, yet her strength, positivity and determination through it all have inspired me in ways I can’t fully express. I’ve watched her fight, choose to keep laughing, get up every day to be the best mom, the best wife, and the best friend, despite the obstacles. Her resilience leaves me in awe, and I can’t help but be inspired by her.

I choose to be more present because of her.

I choose to hold my loved ones a little closer. I choose to appreciate the moment that often go unnoticed.

I choose to run in the CIBC Run for the Cure.
I choose to run for her.
