Why do YOU run?

"I wanted to be involved in a cause that was close to my family and close to my heart, so 9 years ago, I joined the Run for the Cure planning committee and have been involved ever since. I was 15 when my maternal grandmother went through her second relapse of breast cancer, including another masectomy. Five years ago, just before my wedding, the cancer became metastatic. She lost her battle in 2021. Later that year, her daughter and my mother, found a lump and has since recieved treatment, but will br on medication for years to come. My grandmother and mother, like so many others, benefited from the continuous improvements in cancer treatments - we all deserve the research and awareness this cause brings. We all deserve a cure."

Every day, 70 Canadians will hear the words “you have breast cancer.” While these Canadians are living longer, healthier lives after a breast cancer diagnosis, there is still so much work to be done. 

By participating in this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure,  I’m helping make a meaningful difference in the lives of Canadians affected by breast cancer. I’m running in honour of the incredible people in my life, and I need your support!
