My story is a bit different

I was one of the "lucky" ones.  The lump my Doctor found during a routine checkup wasn't cancer... but the mammogram found a hidden newly invasive cancer elsewhere.  Not a candidate for radiation, I chose to have a bilateral mastectomy.  It was decided that I did not need further treatment after this.  Since then I have watched other women in my family deal with the radiation, traditional chemo, and ongoing drug treatment that may have saved their lives, but often at the expense of the quality of their life.

I would like for all women to have treatment that is less harmful and more effective, and I would also like for all the other women in our family to never have to don a pink survivor shirt.
