This year, as part of Jackie’s family, we are proud to be participating in the CIBC Run for the Cure. For those who may not know, cancer has deeply affected Jackie’s family. While I can’t share her sisters' experiences, I can speak from my own perspective about Jackie’s journey.

In March 2020, amidst the uncertainties of a global pandemic, we received the heartbreaking news that Jackie was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer. The impact of this aggressive illness left us all devastated. Jackie is truly the glue that holds our family together—the one who brings laughter, encourages us to step outside our comfort zones, and offers non-judgmental advice, even in our toughest moments. Despite the many isolating challenges, Jackie demonstrated incredible strength, perseverance, and resilience. We are deeply grateful and blessed that she responded well to her chemotherapy and is now in remission, allowing her to celebrate life’s precious moments with us, such as our wedding day and the birth of her beautiful granddaughter, Sophia. While we feel very fortunate, we recognize that not everyone has the same outcome.
