Being diagnosed with breast cancer is a life-changing experience. It can be hard to handle the news at first, and even harder to know how to proceed, no matter the prognosis.

Everyone's journey is unique. I was blessed with family, friends and colleagues that were there for me physically, emotionally and spiritually. The support I received gave me the strength and inspiration I needed to keep everything in perspective.

I have always been an optimist. I always see the positive in all things. I always have an inner drive. Once I got through the initial shock of my diagnosis, I immediately was ready for this race and I was ready for the drive. I knew there would be detours and road blocks, but I was determined to reach the finish line with full healing and recovery!

As optimistic, positive and driven that I was, it was not an easy race. Cancer knocked me down over and over; it crushed my spirit; it made me feel terrible; BUT it did not make me lose my faith! I went into overdrive because I knew I would beat cancer.
