Hello,

I was diagnosed with HER2 positive breast cancer in February of 2021. Thankfully it was caught at an early stage. It was a very heartbreaking thing to learn that I had breast cancer, and that it was an aggressive one. In March 2021, I underwent surgery to remove the cancer from my left breast and also to take out a few lymph nodes to see if the cancer had spread. The cancer had spread to one lymph node, that was removed. After serveral months of recovery from surgery, the chemo regiment began, along with a drug called Trastuzumab.  This drug is a targeted therapy used to treat HER2 positive breast cancer and had to be given intravenously for 15 months. Following several months of chemo, then came radiation. That was painful for a fair skinned beauty such as myself. 

After 9 months of being off work, it was finally time to return to work in January 2022. Thank goodness my employer was so understanding and patient as I slowly and gradually worked back to my regular hours. As I was still having to go to the Cancer Clinic for the Trastuzumab infusions. It was in July of 2022 that all treatment at the Cancer Clinic was ending. When I finally got to ring that bell at the Cancer Clinic, it was the most glorious sound to me. 

I really want to thank all the nurses at the Cancer Clinic for the patience, dedication and care that they take with every cancer patient that comes through the doors.
