An estimated 27,700 women and 260 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in Canada.  As you may already know, in 2021 at the age of 38, I became a part of that statistic.  I was diagnosed with stage 3 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma and had the fight of my life ahead of me.  Here I am now, somewhat on the otherside of that fight, fulfilling a promise I made to myself when I was newly diagnosed. I will forever do all of the little things I can to ensure others like me get the treatments they need to survive and thrive after breast cancer.

The Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure is close to my heart because breast cancer has impacted my life and those I care deeply about. I’ve signed up to participate and fundraise for this year’s CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday, October 2, 2022. I am proud to be a part of this meaningful event that raises funds for groundbreaking breast cancer research and support programs and services for those impacted by this disease. Just a few months ago, I was approved to participate in a trial of a newly approved drug that is meant to reduce my risk of breast cancer reoccurance.  Without research, I would not have this additional tool to help keep me here with my loved ones longer.
