Hi! My name is Kat. I'm a mother of three, wife, donut fiend, home renovating enthusiast, mediocre golfer, and this October, following 5 months of chemotherapy, a double mastectomy, and now 25 rounds of radiation, I will add cancer survivor to the list.

Immediately following the birth of my twin daughters in October of 2021, our family was blindsided by the unthinkable, and I was diagnosed with Stage 3 ER/PR Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Breast Cancer at the age of 38.  An estimated 27,700 women and 260 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in Canada- On average, 78 women a day, and from experience I can tell you that not one of them is prepared for what diagnosis brings, but in the face of the most daunting, we can all choose to fight. 

This year I was given the most incredible gift for my 39th birthday: Time. To pay it forward and give more women and men like me more birthdays as well, I'll be participating and fundraising for the Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday, October 2, 2022. Every dollar I raise will fund groundbreaking breast cancer research and support programs and services for those impacted by this disease- ones that helped me and my family every single day of my battle.

I appreciate any support you are able to give- monetary, or in participation along side me on Oct. 2. I believe better treatment options and survival outcomes are possible- let's give all those that have to hear "You have breast cancer" a reason to hope, and a reason to fight like I did.
